Bibi Glass and Print is the work of local artist Bridget Birse. Bridget trained and worked part time as a fine artist and print maker while her children were young in Leeds until she moved to Bristol in 2000.In 2003 ,after the birth of her twins, she decided to return to college and learn the art of stained and fused glass having always been drawn to the beautiful liquid quality of glass and fascinated by it’s history .She studied at the Bristol school of Art for 3 years and now works at her studio in lovely rural surroundings on the outskirts of Bristol.

Bridget’s work is inspired by her family, her garden, the wildlife and landscape around her home and that of the wilder more remote parts of Cornwall and Wales.

Each glass window starts with her love of drawing and then she combines traditional stained glass painting and lead work with fused and slumped glass to create unique pieces of art. In her printmaking she uses photo techniques with hand painted screens and stencils resulting in one off prints influenced by landscape, family photos and momentos.

Bridget takes commissions for portraits in glass and personalised screen prints as well as designing, making and restoring stained glass windows. For Christmas at the Orangery she will also be making a range of smaller fused glass pieces including angels, birds and trees...each one handcrafted and individual.
