Kat Whelan is an Illustrator and Designer. For a number of years she has worked as a commercial Illustrator in the Greeting Card industry after leaving university in 2002. She was lucky enough to move to the beautiful city of Bath and have been here ever since.

She started working as a freelance illustrator about 5 years ago which enabled me to work from her little studio in her cottage on the outskirts of the city. About 18 months ago she was approached by notonthehighstreet.com and asked if she would like to join them as one of their selling partners, she has been successfully selling her work with them ever since. After her experience of designing greeting cards for the mass market she decided  that she wanted to be able to create a product that still had that handmade personal touch, she also wanted to make something unusual that could not be brought off a shelf in any high street card shop. Each little creation is designed, printed and hand cut or sewed by Kat with the individual customer in mind, she tries to produce things that she would be thrilled to receive herself. She feels that the up-serge in handmade and crafting is the future for good quality design, she tries very hard to embrace this in everything she creates.

This year Kat will be selling her uniquely designed Paper Circuses and Theatres, delicate card 3d greetings that make a wonderful alternatives to a standard greeting card or that can be used as festive decorations in your home. She will also have her full range of smaller greeting cards for all occasions, her lino print artwork which can also be purchased on cotton shopping totes and her very special soft art toys Golden Reindeer and Flying Hare which can be hung as decorations and are fully posable, along with a selection of stocking fillers like my pin badges.
