Bristol-based company Gracie Bows started by Kathryn King and launched her fresh concept in cushion design via a new website www.GracieBows.co.uk earlier this year. Owner and ‘chief designer’ Kathryn had the idea while she ran her own Wedding Venue Styling Business in Bristol; tying hundreds of organza and taffeta sashes on chair covers each week. Her bows were immaculate and decorative and soon she was wondering what else she could adorn with her bows! Cushions seemed the obvious answer.
Working with various fabrics and self created designs, Kathryn came up with an idea that incorporated the bow decoration as the closure device, so there are no zips, buttons or Velcro to come loose, snag, break or detract from the design. This design feature has been protected and cannot be copied, so Gracie Bows cushions really are unique.
On the day, Gracie Bows will be displaying a range of cushions from the collection, all featuring the ‘Gracie Bows’ trademark bow. All of these cushions will obviously be for sale, but I will be taking commissions on the day which can be produced in time for Christmas. She will also be selling Gift Tins, which will contain (among other lovely things) a gift voucher redeemable against a cushion (small, medium, large) on their website – so if you don’t want to make a colour choice on behalf of someone else, you can wrap up a beautiful tin and let them decide for themselves! I will also have some smaller items (pin cushions and door stops) for people to buy as less expensive ‘stocking filler’ type gifts.
