The Summer Hill Soap Co is a small family run business that began as a hobby just three years ago, and has quickly grown into something a little bit bigger than that! The company is run by Deb Hares, who works as a paediatric nurse by night, and a soap maker by day. The centre of the business is a workshop at the bottom of Deb's flower garden, where her ideas for new recipes are born, bred and tested by her family and friends, and especially by her sons who adore her bath fizzies.

In the workshop Deb is surrounded by the scent of lavender, rosemary, neroli, rosewood and cedarwood, as well as real pieces of lavender and rose buds. These are just some of the ingredients that go into the range of soaps that she makes using the old-fashioned cold processed method, as well as a selection of creams and bath fizzes. Not to mention the new addition of aromatherapy candles. The summery, rural image evoked by the logo on the products is enhanced by their presentation, with ribbons, lavender and rosebuds, and by packaging which uses recycled paper, card and string. There are also gift sets, such as a soap in a dish with a pumice stone, and bath fizzes designed to look like cup cakes, which are displayed on a cake stand at the many events that she attends.
