ROSIE FLO

Referred to recently as “one of Bath’s many well kept publishing secrets”, illustrator and creator of the Rosie Flo’s colouring books, Roz Streeten, lives and works in Bath.

It was Roz’s observation of her own young daughters’ obsession and focus with drawing and colouring that led to the first Rosie Flo book being printed, back in 2004. Her daughter Sophie, now aged 16, would constantly ask “Mummy, please can you draw me some dresses?”  Sophie loved drawing in the heads, legs and arms, paying real attention to the facial expressions. Younger sister Sasha, aged 12 also requested dresses a few years later, her passion being more about the colouring-in aspect. This inspired Roz to create a book with their two obsessions in mind.

The name Rosie Flo evolved from the girls’ middle names combined and these unusual books are filled with beautiful line drawn dresses enabling children to colour and draw — just as they like. Other products for children to colour have evolved out of the success of the colouring books – a prize winning colouring Fashion Show, colouring postcards, posters and our new Rosie Flo’s Colouring Christmas Decorations.

With her graphic designer husband Steve Kamlish, a publishing business venture evolved. Five years ago they moved from London, Camden, and now live in Bath, Camden. They both enjoy living in the west country where Roz currently teaches part time at Bath Spa College of Art. She also gets involved visiting local schools to talk about her work and recently ran a workshop for the very young at the Bath Kids Literary Festival.
